College Preparation for Homeschoolers

Many homeschool moms want to prepare their teen for college, even if the kid doesn't end up going there. I think this is wise, for the most part. This way if goals change, then the student has most of what they need for college taken care of, and they don't have to play catch up.

The problem is that we get all worried about what colleges want, and how to look good, and we think our kid has to take core courses every year or that everything has to be a difficult difficulty level, lol, and this can lead to a lot of overwhelm. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's not really a big deal.

Out of all the articles on this page, I suggest this one first: How to KNOW What Your Teen NEEDS to Get Into College. Please read this even if your kid is only in 6th grade, lol. Trust me when I tell you that doing just the little bit of research that this article outlines will give you a whole new perspective on not only getting ready for college but on the whole homeschool high school endeavor.

You really CAN do this, and do it WELL! Even if you're an "ordinary" mom like me.

Once you've read that one (and done what it says), then you are free to explore all of the others with a better understanding of what is really NECESSARY and what is not. I'm all about lightening the burden, y'all, and I want to empower moms to feel comfortable with college preparation. Be assured that there is no one right way. Do what is best for YOUR family and YOUR kid!

If there is a topic that isn't here that you would really like me to write about, let me know by emailing ann (at) annieandeverything (dot) com. I'd be happy to help if I can!
