Ann-Notated: DIY Home Decor for Home Staging

This week on Ann-Notated, instead of random articles that I’ve read this week, I’m working with a theme.   Since we just finished the series on getting your house ready to sell, I thought it would be a good idea to find some resources that will help us as we complete the final process, staging the home.   We all need frugal DIY home decor ideas to help us make our houses look their best to prospective buyers, without us having to spend a lot of money or time.

A list of resource articles providing DIY home decor ideas for when you want to stage your home for sale.Five Natural Ways to Make Your Home Smell Heavenly — we talked about taking care of odors in the home before a showing.  Mindfully Frugal Mom has some great ideas that are easy on the pocketbook and effective.

DIY Cheap Wall Decor — when we take down our personal photos, sometimes we need something to put in their place.  Framing fabric can be a easy, cheap alternative to purchasing artwork or prints.

Tips for Styling a Bookcase — Up to Date Interiors takes you step-by-step through revamping a bookcase from strictly functional to decorative.

10 Ways Thrifty People Renovate — If you need to tackle a big project to prepare your house for sale, Snail Pace Transformations has some tested tips for doing it cheaply.

14 Frugal Kitchen Organizing Ideas — As you work to declutter and organize your home prior to putting it on the market, Frugality Gal has a round-up of frugal projects for tackling the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Room Staging for MLS Listing Photos — this is a really interesting look at the MLS photos from when Kim (of Kim Six Fix) bought her home, compared to those from when she sold it within a year for a profit.  She compares what didn’t work in the first set to what did work in the second set.  Lots of good fodder for staging ideas here.

8 Helpful Tips to Make Small Rooms Feel Big —   For home sale purposes, we want our rooms to look as big as possible.  Making DIY Fun tells us how.

Track of the Week: Oh y’all, this one gives me goosebumps:  Cry Me A River as sung by Michael Bublé.  I love the orchestration, and his voice is of course like melty chocolate… mmm…
